Preserving Historical Heritage: Wonosobo Promotes Nationalism and Cultural Preservation

Kelanawisata.id, Wonosobo – The commitment to preserving the cultural heritage of the Indonesian archipelago continues to be championed in Wonosobo Regency through the 2026 Exhibition of Keris, Antiques, and Precious Stones of the Indonesian Archipelago, which will take place on June 16–18, 2026, at Sasana Adipura Kencana in Wonosobo. Under the theme “Traces of Heritage from the Land of the Gods,” this event serves as a platform for cultural preservation, the strengthening of national values, and an effort to promote the development of the region’s tourism and creative economy sectors.

More than 100 participants—including keris enthusiasts, antique collectors, cultural observers, cultural figures, and heritage preservation communities from various regions across Indonesia—took part in the exhibition. A diverse collection of keris, heirlooms, antiques, and precious stones—each possessing significant historical, artistic, and philosophical value—was displayed to the public as a form of education and appreciation for the rich heritage of the Indonesian archipelago.

The exhibition, held to coincide with Bung Karno Month, served not only as a gathering for cultural activists but also as a means to introduce historical and national values to the younger generation, encouraging them to better understand and cherish the nation’s ancestral heritage.

The Regent of Wonosobo, H. Afif Nurhidayat, S.Ag., expressed his appreciation to the Djawa Djadoel Community of Wonosobo Regency and all parties who contributed to the organization of the event. According to him, cultural preservation is an important part of maintaining national identity while also enhancing the region’s appeal.

“This exhibition does more than simply display heirlooms; it also revives the historical legacy, noble values, and wisdom of our forebears that have shaped our national identity. Through events like this, the public can gain a deeper understanding of the cultural heritage that has long been an integral part of the journey of the Nusantara civilization,” said the Regent.

Furthermore, the Regent emphasized that progress in the tourism sector cannot be separated from the strength of the culture and traditions that thrive within the community.

“Events like this are key drivers of regional tourism development. Beautiful natural scenery must be complemented by well-preserved culture, living traditions, and a thriving creative economy. These three elements form the essential foundation for building sustainable regional appeal,” he continued.

According to the Regent, the theme and exhibition catalog of “Traces of Heritage from the Land of the Gods” are highly relevant to Wonosobo’s character, which is rich in history, tradition, and local wisdom. Therefore, it is hoped that similar events can continue to be held on an ongoing basis as a space for cultural exchange from various parts of the archipelago, as well as an educational tool for the community.

The momentum of Bung Karno Month, which serves as the backdrop for this event, is also seen as a reminder of the importance of upholding the spirit of nationalism and national unity.

“Pancasila has proven itself to be an ideology capable of uniting the Indonesian nation. Amid various national and global dynamics, we remain standing as a united nation. One of the forces that upholds this unity is the culture that we continue to nurture and pass on to future generations,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, the Chair of the Exhibition Committee, H. Zaid Suryono, explained that this event was organized as part of the Bung Karno Month commemoration and as an effort to foster the public’s love for the nation’s history, culture, and noble values.

“Bung Karno Month serves as an opportunity to commemorate the spirit of struggle, nationalism, and the noble values bequeathed by the nation’s founders. Through this exhibition, we aim to encourage the younger generation to better understand and appreciate our cultural heritage as an integral part of Indonesia’s national identity,” he stated.

Zaid also noted that compiling the exhibition catalog is part of an effort to document and serve as a medium for cultural education. According to him, the keris is a noble cultural heritage of the Nusantara that not only possesses high artistic value but also embodies the philosophy, history, and moral messages passed down by our ancestors.

“Every keris blade holds meanings about life, honor, courage, and wisdom that we should all preserve together. Through this catalog and exhibition, we aim to create a space for cultural appreciation while encouraging the public—especially the younger generation—to better understand and cherish our nation’s ancestral heritage,” he explained.

He added that the theme “Traces of Heritage from the Land of the Gods” represents the long journey of the Nusantara culture, which is rich in spiritual values, noble traditions, and local wisdom that remain relevant to this day.

On this occasion, Zaid also expressed his appreciation to the master craftsmen, keris collectors, cultural figures, cultural enthusiast communities, the entire organizing committee, and all parties who supported the exhibition.

“We would like to thank everyone who has contributed their energy, ideas, and prayers to make this event possible. We also thank the visitors who attended and helped enliven the exhibition. May this event bring benefits, broaden cultural understanding, and serve as a concrete step toward preserving and caring for our ancestral heritage for future generations,” he said.

According to Zaid, the presence of more than 100 participants from various regions across the archipelago—including those from outside Java—demonstrates the public’s high level of enthusiasm for cultural preservation. In addition to providing educational and historical preservation benefits, this event also opens up economic opportunities through the formation of community networks, the trade of collectibles, and the development of culture-based creative industries.

Through the 2026 Archipelago Keris, Antiques, and Precious Stones Exhibition, the Wonosobo Regency Government hopes to continue raising public awareness of the importance of cultural preservation. In line with the development of the tourism and creative economy sectors, cultural heritage is expected to become not only a source of pride in the past but also a source of inspiration and strength in building the region’s future, rooted in the nation’s noble values.

To Boost the Competitiveness of Dieng Tourism, the Wonosobo Regency Government Strengthens Guidance for Glamping Accommodations

Kelanawisata.id, Wonosobo - The Wonosobo Government, through the Wonosobo Regency Tourism and Culture Office in collaboration with the Wonosobo Regency Civil Service Police Unit, accompanied by the Garung and Kejajar Subdistrict Governments, conducted monitoring, evaluation, and guidance activities for a number of glamping-based tourism accommodation businesses in the Wonosobo Regency tourism area on Wednesday, June 3, 2026. This activity is part of the implementation of supervisory and guidance duties and functions for tourism businesses to ensure that every business operator meets tourism business standards in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. In addition, this activity also aims to improve the quality of service to tourists while strengthening aspects of security, safety, comfort, and the suitability of available infrastructure. According to the Acting Head of the Wonosobo Regency Tourism and Culture Office, M. Kristijadi, the glamping businesses targeted for monitoring and guidance include Glamping Dieng in Parikesit Village, Kejajar Subdistrict; Luxcamp by Horison in Parikesit Village, Kejajar Subdistrict; Afton Glamping in Sembungan Village, Kejajar Subdistrict; and Swiss Van Java Glamping in Mlandi Village, Garung Subdistrict. He further explained that the Tourism Business Development and Supervision Team conducts inspections of various aspects, ranging from business licensing administration, the implementation of tourism business standards, the condition of facilities and infrastructure, business management systems, to visitor safety and security. This monitoring also focuses on operators’ preparedness to handle extreme weather conditions, environmental cleanliness, and the maintenance of facilities used by tourists. The Acting Head of the Tourism and Culture Office added that these monitoring and guidance activities are strategic steps taken by the local government to maintain the quality of tourism destinations and businesses in Wonosobo Regency. “This monitoring and guidance is not merely a supervisory activity, but also a form of government support for business operators so that they can continue to improve service quality and meet established tourism business standards. We want to ensure that tourists visiting Wonosobo have a safe, comfortable, and memorable travel experience,” said Kristijadi. Furthermore, Kristijadi emphasized that the safety and security of tourists are a top priority, particularly for glamping businesses located in highland areas with dynamic weather conditions. “Business operators need to ensure that all facilities and infrastructure are in good condition, safe to use, and have sound risk mitigation procedures in place. This is important for maintaining tourist confidence while enhancing the competitiveness of Wonosobo’s tourism sector,” he added. Based on the monitoring results, in general, all visited glamping businesses are operating and serving tourists well. However, several areas still require improvement, particularly regarding administrative procedures, compliance with tourism industry standards, and strengthening visitor safety and security measures. All checklist results and field findings have been directly communicated to each operator as material for evaluation and follow-up improvements. Through a mechanism of continuous guidance, it is hoped that every business operator can promptly implement improvements in accordance with the recommendations provided. As a follow-up, the Wonosobo Regency Tourism Business Development and Supervision Team will continue to increase the intensity of its supervision and guidance on a regular basis through coordination with relevant regional agencies. This measure is being taken to encourage glamping business operators to consistently meet and implement tourism business standards in accordance with applicable regulations. The Wonosobo Regency Government is committed to ensuring the operation of safe, comfortable, orderly, high-quality, and sustainable tourism businesses as part of efforts to enhance the region’s tourism competitiveness and provide protection and comfort for tourists visiting Wonosobo Regency.*     Writen by Dimas D. Bersemi Tembi Eco Creative Festival 2026: A Creative Hub Empowering Tembi Tourism Village

Kelanawisata.id, Bantul – A warm and creative atmosphere enveloped Tembi Tourism Village on Saturday, April 4, 2026, as the Bersemi Tembi Eco Creative Festival was successfully held at the Tembi Village area. The festival featured a blend of the arts, the creative economy, traditional cuisine, and interactive experiences that directly engaged local residents and tourists. This event, initiated by the Yabbiekayu Community, serves as a catalyst to strengthen Tembi Tourism Village’s identity as a destination rooted in culture, alternative experiences, and agriculture. By collaborating with local residents, the festival functions not only as an entertainment venue but also as a platform for community economic empowerment through the involvement of local SMEs. Throughout the day, visitors were treated to a variety of art performances spread across several locations, ranging from the north stage, the south stage, to the Yabbiekayu restaurant area. Various traditional and contemporary art performances took turns, creating a lively and inclusive festival atmosphere. Not only that, the talk show held in the restaurant area also served as an inspiring discussion space regarding the development of tourism villages and community-based creative economy. In addition to the arts, the festival also features creative economy stalls and traditional food stalls, which serve as unique attractions. Visitors can explore local handicrafts and sample authentic village specialties. Not to be missed are the hands-on workshops where visitors can participate directly in the creative process alongside the locals. The enthusiasm of the community and tourists is evident from the large number of visitors, both domestic and international, who came to enjoy the festival atmosphere. Dukuh Tembi expressed his hope: “Tembi is a tourism village—one that embraces culture, alternative lifestyles, agriculture, and more. This is indeed the first time an event of this scale has been held. Our hope is that this event becomes an annual one, attracting guests to Tembi with the aim of empowering the community, boosting local MSMEs, and the economy.” The spirit of empowerment is also evident among the MSME operators involved. One seller of traditional beverages shared, “I heard about this event from Yabbiekayu Restaurant; they usually host events there every month. Here I’m selling dawet ireng and es asem; they cost around 7,000 to 8,000 rupiah. Alhamdulillah, I’ve sold about 80 glasses so far. My hope is that SMEs will continue to thrive and that we can connect with friends. This es asem is natural—a classic drink—so Gen Z can get to know it too.” With the Bersemi Tembi Eco Creative Festival, Tembi Tourism Village demonstrates its potential as a living space that not only offers tourist experiences but also serves as a platform for collaboration, creativity, and the strengthening of the local economy. The festival is expected to become an annual event that continues to grow and attracts more tourists to experience the warmth of the village while supporting the community’s sustainability.

Kelanawisata.id, Wonosobo — A total of 19 tourism businesses in Wonosobo Regency have officially received the CHSE Certification as a form of commitment to improving tourism services that are clean, healthy, safe, and environmentally sustainable.

The certificates were issued by the Director of the Tourism Business Certification Body (LSUP) Bhakti Mandiri Wisata Indonesia, Hairullah Ghazali, and symbolically handed over by the Regent of Wonosobo, Afif Nurhidayat, to 19 tourism business operators on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Pendopo Belakang of Wonosobo Regency.

This certification was carried out independently by each tourism business as a reflection of awareness, responsibility, and commitment to meeting national tourism service standards while creating a safe, comfortable, high-quality, and sustainable tourism environment.

Regent Afif Nurhidayat emphasized that CHSE certification is a crucial step in building a professional and competitive tourism sector. He highlighted that tourism development must go hand in hand with infrastructure improvement, event organization, and human resource readiness.

He also underlined the philosophy of tourism service, stating that visitors should be treated as honored guests. A positive experience, he noted, will encourage tourists to return with family and friends while promoting Wonosobo tourism through word of mouth.

Furthermore, the Regent expressed hope that the tourism sector would generate tangible economic benefits not only for business operators but also for the wider community. He encouraged the Tourism and Culture Office of Wonosobo Regency to become a supportive hub and entry point for tourism development. He also proposed future government support in the form of certification subsidies to motivate more businesses to obtain CHSE certification.

(Wonosobo Regent Afif Nurhidayat symbolically presented CHSE certificates to tourism business operators at the rear pavilion of the Wonosobo Regency Office on Monday, February 9, 2026)

The CHSE certification focuses on key aspects such as cleanliness, health, and safety, including the application of international standards like ISO. The certificate is valid for three years, with annual surveillance conducted as part of sustainable tourism development. Certified businesses are also permitted to use the SNI logo in accordance with applicable regulations.

The Charm of Gerdu Natural Batik Through the Lens of Individual Personality

Kelanawisata.id, Karanganyar – Batik is not only visually appealing but also holds a unique charm for its admirers. It can be styled for various occasions, whether formal, semi-formal, or casual. With its diverse motifs, each piece of batik carries its own meaning and philosophy, making it more than just clothing—it is a cultural expression.

This philosophy inspired a group of women in Gerdu Village, Karangpandan, Karanganyar, to develop a batik initiative in 2023 known as Kelompok Batik Alam Gerdu. What sets Batik Alam Gerdu apart from other batik lies in its use of eco-friendly natural dyes. In addition, the batik can be fully customized, from motif design to unique packaging. By utilizing natural materials, the dyeing process adds significant value to this masterpiece of intangible cultural heritage, which has also been registered under Indonesia’s intellectual property rights (HAKI).

The production process of Batik Alam Gerdu differs from conventional batik-making. It begins with motif research based on customer input, followed by translating ideas into design, the batik-making process, natural dyeing, tailoring, and finishing touches such as packaging. Each piece is then wrapped with a meaningful story, reflecting the dedication, time, and effort invested in its creation. Through this process, wearers are expected to gain a deeper understanding of the story behind the batik they wear.

Every stroke of the motif and the use of skin-friendly natural dyes create a distinctive impression for its owner. Due to this intricate process, the time required to complete each batik piece varies. Factors such as climate and geographical conditions—since parts of the process may take place in different locations—also contribute to the uniqueness of each custom-made natural dye batik.

For those interested in owning a piece of Batik Alam Gerdu, patience is essential. The lengthy production process ensures that each finished product carries a unique story, reflecting the wearer’s character, lifestyle, and identity.

These personalized batik pieces go beyond fashion—they represent self-identity: who we are, our purpose, and how these elements are expressed through the art of batik. This is achieved through carefully crafted motifs tailored to each individual’s persona, interpreted by skilled batik artisans.

To access this service, visitors are invited to engage in a sharing and consultation session to explore their personal stories and uncover a motif that truly represents them. So, who can own Batik Alam Gerdu? Anyone who values ethics, self-character, personal identity, and a deeper understanding of life’s philosophy—from healthcare professionals and public figures to community leaders, farmers, and entrepreneurs—can embrace this meaningful form of cultural expression.
