Kelanawisata.id, Wonosobo – The Wonosobo Regency Tourism and Culture Office recorded a significant increase in the number of tourist visits during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday period, which took place from March 22 to 29, 2026. This was announced by the Head of the Wonosobo Regency Tourism and Culture Office, Fahmi Hidayat, on Thursday (April 2).

‎Based on the data collected, the number of tourist visits to Tourist Attractions (DTW) reached a total of 225,222 visits, consisting of 225,076 domestic tourists and 146 international tourists. This figure represents an increase of approximately 62 percent compared to the same period in 2025. This increase was supported by optimized data collection across all tourist attractions, whether managed by the local government or the private sector.

Meanwhile, attendance at various events held as part of the 2026 Wonosobo Homecoming Festival also saw a significant increase. Total event attendance was recorded at 304,928 people, comprising 304,836 domestic tourists and 92 international tourists. This figure represents an increase of approximately 39 percent compared to the previous year.

‎The rise in event attendance was driven by high public enthusiasm and a massive promotional campaign, which boosted the visibility of the 2026 Wonosobo Homecoming Festival. Additionally, the expansion of event locations to 23 sites helped broaden the reach and distribution of tourist visits across various regions.

However, the number of international tourists during the event saw a decline. This was influenced by global geopolitical conditions, uncertainty regarding international travel policies, security situations in several countries, and global economic fluctuations that affected foreign tourists’ interest and ability to travel abroad, including to Indonesia.

Overall, the total number of tourist visits during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday reached 530,150 people, consisting of 529,912 domestic tourists and 238 international tourists. The international tourists who visited came from various countries, including Pakistan, India, Palestine, France, Italy, the Netherlands, the United States, Canada, Belgium, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, China, South Africa, and Australia.
‎In addition to the increase in visitor numbers, the economic impact of hosting the event was also quite significant. The estimated economic turnover during the 2026 Wonosobo Homecoming Festival reached Rp4,247,145,000, or approximately Rp4.2 billion.

Within Central Java Province, Wonosobo Regency ranked third as the region with the highest number of tourist visits during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday, trailing behind Kebumen Regency and Klaten Regency.

Fahmi Hidayat, Head of the Wonosobo Regency Tourism and Culture Office, stated that this achievement is the result of collaboration among various parties, including the local government, tourism stakeholders, communities, and the general public.

‎“This growth serves as a positive indicator that Wonosobo’s tourism sector continues to expand and possesses strong appeal. “Moving forward, we will continue to improve service quality, destination management, and event innovation to provide the best possible experience for tourists,” he said.
‎Fahmi Hidayat, Head of the Wonosobo Regency Tourism and Culture Office, also expressed his hope that this positive achievement will be matched by continuous improvements in destination governance and event management.

‎He emphasized that his office will continue to make improvements, ranging from supporting infrastructure, human resource capacity, and destination management systems to more integrated, safe, and comfortable event planning and execution for tourists.

“Moving forward, we are committed to strengthening the management of tourist destinations to make them more orderly, clean, and competitive. In addition, we will continue to improve event management—from planning and execution to evaluation—so that every event can have an optimal impact in terms of both visitor numbers and the local economy,” he said.

Furthermore, Fahmi Hidayat expressed appreciation and gratitude to all tourists who chose Wonosobo Regency as their destination during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday.

‎“We thank all tourists who visited and enjoyed the various destinations and events in Wonosobo. Your presence serves as positive energy for the revival of the local tourism sector,” he stated.

‎On the other hand, his office also offered an apology if there were any shortcomings in service during the visit period, whether at tourist destinations or during event implementation.

‎“We realize there are still some things we need to improve. For that reason, we apologize for the service that was not yet optimal and will use this as a basis for evaluation to make improvements in the future,” he concluded.***
