Kelanawisata.id, Yogyakarta – Bakmi Jawa, or commonly known as mie godog, is a boiled noodle dish with seasonings and spices typical of Javanese cuisine. This culinary specialty was born from a fusion of Chinese and Javanese flavors and began to develop in Yogyakarta since it was first sold in Piyaman Village, Wonosari, Gunungkidul. From there, the tradition of cooking noodles with a local touch started to spread and became an important part of the daily cuisine of the community.
One of the legendary food stalls that still maintains the authenticity of its taste is Bakmi Jawa Pak Sugi. Located on Jalan Persatuan Terban, right across from the Simanjuntak campus area, this simple stall is always a favorite destination for mie godog lovers. “My name is Pak Sugi, I am from Wonosari. I am 67 years old. From this business, alhamdulillah, I have been able to perform umrah,” he proudly said.
The specialty of Bakmi Jawa Pak Sugi lies in its recipe, which uses a combination of yellow noodles and white noodles, cooked with typical Javanese spices. Each order is prepared individually using a clay stove (anglo) and charcoal, producing a smoky aroma that is characteristic of traditional cuisine. This process is what makes a bowl of noodles feel warm, tender, and perfectly blended with its savory broth.
Many loyal customers keep coming back. “I've eaten here quite often. I'm a regular. That's why I brought my friend, and it really is very delicious. The boiled noodles are extremely fresh,” said one of the visitors. If you are visiting Yogyakarta, don't forget to stop by Bakmi Jawa Pak Sugi and experience the warmth offered in every bite.
